  • Stretching upon an area of 1,542 square metres, the Timișoara Orthodox Cathedral (also known as the “Catedrala Mitropolitană din Timișoara” or the “Metropolitan Cathedral of the Three Holy Hierarchs”) is the seat of the Archbishop of Timișoara and Metropolis of Banat. Boasting with a staggering total of 11 spires (with one of them reaching a maximum height of 90.5 metres), the church is listed in the National Register of Historic Monuments. Dedicated to the “Three Holy Hierarchs”, Saints Basil the Great, John Chrysostom, and Gregory the Theologian, it adheres to the standards of the Moldavian and Byzantine architectural styles. Consecrated in 1946, it is 63 metres long and 32 metres wide. Designed by Ioan D. Traianescu, the façade has garnered quite a reputation in Transylvania, and visitors are definitely urged to bask in its brilliance (especially at night).
