  • Located deep within the heart of Sibiu (Transylvania, Romania), the Holy Trinity Cathedral (known officially as “Catedrala Sfânta Treime din Sibiu”) is the seat of the Romanian Orthodox Archbishop of Sibiu and Metropolitan of Transylvania. Built between 1902 and 1904, the cathedral adheres to Byzantine Revival standards. Built to resemble Byzantine basilicas and inspired by the Hagia Sophia of Istanbul, it harbours spires that pertain to Transylvanian church architecture and Baroque criteria. With an exterior lined with red and yellow bricks, the church holds a massive nave bound by smaller spherical roofs. What’s interesting about it is that Divine Liturgy and Vespers occur daily within its bounds.
