  • Decorating the inner bounds of the Romanian village of Călinești, the Călinești Susani Church is one of the renowned wooden churches of Maramureș. Inspired by Moldavian sacred architecture, the church retains its characteristic roof style with two eaves. Believed to have been built in 1784, it is attributed to the same master carpenter who has created the Glod Church and the Poienile de sub Munte Church. Though the exact name of the constructor remains unknown, the interior decorations have been done by Nicolae Cepschin. What’s interesting about its architecture is that it is an exquisite blend between the aforementioned Moldavian style (trefoil church) and the local basilica style.
