  • If you happen to be visiting the Transylvanian town of Lăzarea (Gyergyószárhegy or Szárhegy), do not leave out the magnificence that is Lázár Castle (also known as “Castelul Lazar” or “Lázár-kastély”). Adhering to a seamless blend between the Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance architectural styles, it is one of the most complex yet modest wonders of its parent country (Romania). Named after the famous Lázár noble family, the castle even possesses an exquisite sculpture of the Hungarian national hero, Bethlen Gábor (fashioned by master sculptor Ferenc Ernő).
