  • Situated proudly in the mighty Pădurea Craiului Mountains of Transylvania (Romania), Wind Cave is the longest cave system of its parent country. Known officially as Peștera Vântului, the system has a total shaft length of 52 kilometres. Located on the left bank of Crișul Repede River, adjacent to Șuncuiuș village, the cave is accessible via Oradea (50 kilometres) and Cluj-Napoca as well (100 kilometres). Named after the powerful bidirectional draughts (comparable to strong New Zealand gales) that can be sensed at the entrance and in the far corners of the system, the cave has an average temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius.
