  • Situated proudly deep within the bounds of the town of Lipova (Arad County, Romania), the Maria Radna Basilica (also known as “Mănăstirea Sfânta Maria din Radna”) is the main pilgrimage centre of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Timișoara. Pope John Paul II designated the church a minor basilica in 1992 and, along with three other structures, it represents an architectural monument-ensemble pertaining to the 18th and 19th centuries. What’s interesting to know about it is that, in spite of its currently seamless stance, it was built in three stages (1722, 1828, and 1911).
