  • As you will surely see for yourself, Hungary is full of churches. The north-eastern city of Nyíregyháza is no exception to this and the Nyíregyháza Cathedral (also known as “Nyíregyháza St. Nicholas Bishop Greek Catholic Church”) is one of its most important and endeared sights. Built between the years 1895 and 1897, it adheres to the Eclectic architectural style. What’s interesting to know about it is that it resembles a Greek cross and that it used to be the co-cathedral of the Hungarian Catholic Archeparchy of Hajdúdorog (Archidioecesis Haidudoroghensis) between the years 2013 and 2015.
