  • Visiting the Hungarian city of Debrecen has countless perks but one of the most important ones is being able to bask in the brilliance of its St. Anne’s Cathedral. Known officially as the Szent Anna Székesegyház (Hungarian), it is often referred to as simply the Debrecen Cathedral. Functioning as the cathedral of the Diocese of Debrecen-Nyíregyháza and dedicated to Saint Anne, it was commissioned by Cardinal Imre Csáky and built by the Milanese architect Giovanni Battista Carlone in 1721. Three statues decorate the façade and they are devoted to St. Emeric of Hungary, St. Stephen and the Virgin and Child Jesus.
