Connecting the two main sections of Budapest (Buda and Pest), Liberty Bridge (Szabadság híd) is one of the most beautiful bridges in central Europe. With a total length of 333.6 metres and a width of 20.1 metres, it was built between the years 1894 and 1896 and rebuilt in 1945. Connecting notable points of interest such as Gellért Square (along with Gellért Hill) and Fővám Square, it used to bear the name of Emperor Franz Joseph (Franz Joseph Bridge). Reaching across the majestic Danube, Budapest’s pride was designed by Hungarian grandmaster, János Feketeházy.
