  • Serving as one of the most marketed and recognisable coastal stretches of Zakynthos (Greece), Navagio Beach (also known as “Smugglers Cove”) is a place that no tourists should die without visiting. Considered an exposed cove, it was initially known as “Agios Georgios” (Saint George). With massive enclosing cliffs on all sides and calm waters, it is excellent for people of all ages and swimming skills. If you happen to visit it, you’ll find that it is more than family-friendly – there really is no “invisible” place there where you can lose track of your kids. What’s most interesting about it historically is that it still possesses the wreck of the MV Panagiotis, a freightliner that managed to run aground there in 1980. According to urban legends, it was carrying all sorts of contraband at the time. Now you know why it has so many interesting names, right (wink)?
