  • Designed by Heinrich Strack in 1864, the Victory Column of the proud capital of Germany is quite something to behold. Proudly commemorating the Prussian victory in the Danish-Prussian War (1 February – 30 October 1864), it had stood at the Platz der Republik until 1939, when the Nazis relocated it to the Großer Stern – that is where you’ll find all those tourists photographing it nowadays (wink). Along with the statue itself, the monument is 67 metres tall.
