  • Situated on the south-western coast of Barbados, Needham’s Point Lighthouse is one of the four remaining historic lighthouses of the island. Located at the southern tip of Carlisle Bay, it was first constructed in 1855. Currently non-functional, the octagonal prism tower used to soar at a height of 13 metres but it only reaches 9 in its current incarnation. During its glory days, it used to flash at 8-second intervals and with a green and red light (its unique lens facilitated that property). Visitors of Carlisle Bay are advised to bask in the brilliance of this magnificent spire as it hearkens back to ages long gone yet not forgotten!
