  • Barbados’ George Washington House bears an interesting significance when it comes to the history of the United States of America. When the soon-to-be president George Washington was 19 years old, he visited Barbados with his sickly sibling, Lawrence Washington. They were housed in the historical house that can now be viewed by locals and tourists alike. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, the house and its harbouring island bear another interesting fact within their grasp: Barbados is the only country that George Washington visited outside of the current-day USA.
