  • Located in the parish of St. George, Gun Hill Signal Station used to be the largest and one of the most important military outposts back in its glory days. Its elevated position offers visitors unparalleled sights of the island around them and its well-tended gardens enchant them with their multi-coloured flowers and plants. A fine statue of a lion decorates its bounds and it is reachable via a winding road that should be carefully navigated at all times. Built in 1818, it used to be a vital part of a signal-chain that used to run all around the island. After its fall into disrepair, the outpost was leased by the Barbados National Trust in 1981 and restored with the aid of the government.
